We had another doctor’s appointment in Idaho Falls so we headed there by way of Alpine, Wyoming and then Swan Valley, Idaho.
Along the way we discovered that the oak trees had turned and so we were treated to hillsides covered with bright red leaves.
We had timed it perfectly, by chance, and so we took turns driving and taking images with our phones. Of course, there are more pines trees than oak trees, so we have lots of green mixed with the reds. There are also many yellows, as the aspen are turning. Not many people know that each aspen grove is a single plant.
They spread out by sending out a root system from which the trees spring up. Because they are a single plant they all turn their leaves at the same time, (we do hope to head to the Tetons this week for one last hike before we head south.
